Sometimes, what we think beneficial to people may eventually cause more damage without us knowing it. In response to marital problems, marriage therapy is often recommended as the best solution for a couple to settle their issues. However, for some reasons, marriage therapy does not always work for all. For instance, my sister did not expect that her husband will be drowned into vices (casino) which later had already affected their relationship. She immediately asked for referral to marriage counselor from one of her friends who have succesfully undergone several sessions. When it’s already my sister’s and her husband’s time to meet the marriage counselor for a complete series of marriage therapy, the tide turned the other way around. Her husband took it offensively. He misunderstood the advices of the counsellor as a way of blaming him and that really made him feel bad. My sister cancelled their future appointments. And now, she is still struggling to talk to her husband.
